I don't know but I have heard that some inhalers can affect your eye sight, don't know if it's true. You would be better off seeing your GP I think. :)

Hi Emmo , I have a bad memory and eyesight is very blurry at times . I think memory is affected by low oxygen . I have put the blurry eyes down to diabetes and am going to try optrex as it seems to be a sticky film i get and when i blink sometimes i can see clearer . I will ask GP and post if i get a solution or more info . xxxx Dinny xxxx

Hi Dinnyrayner,

I too am diabetic (Type 2 on insulin) and have dry eyes which was diagnosed by my optician. It is a symptom of Diabetes and a lot of your places dry up and you don't sweat so much either. I use Gel Tears which is a little more economical than the liquids.

If you are diabetic then you should be referred for Diabetic Retinopathy, which looks at inside your eyes using a camera. I have it done once a year.

regards

David

Thanks for the tip on gel tears David , will see if our little chemist does them xx. I do have my eyes checked every year at the retinopathy clinic but thank you for telling me anyway , very kind of you xx, i don't much like it though , the drops sting and the flashes are blinding , it's worth it for peace of mind though . xxxx Dinny xxxx

Hi Emmo , you are very welcome xx. Interesting about the cataracts , my mum and my brother in law both had cataracts and diabetes , do you know if diabetes can cause cataracts ?? . xxxx Dinny xxxx

I was advised by a lady in boots pharmacy to use dry eye rather than optrex. Apparently optrex has something in the solution that makes you need to keep using the product i.e. dependant on it.. I've found dry eye does the job just as well and much cheaper than optrex

Hi Emmo, Ive got blurred vision and my memory is also not what it was. I have chronic hyperventilation syndrome, severe copd and depression. The hyperventilating causes a chemical imbalance in your body which causes many symtoms including memory, blurred vision. I was also on lot of prednisilone for a while and they have caused cataracts, so thats caused blurred vision for me. It would be worth having chat to your gp and see what they say. Do hope you find the answer and feel better soon, luv Lorraine x

I have been a severe sufferer for 5 years now and have not noticed any unexpected deterioration in eyesight as a result of COPD. I do believe a healthy diet is important for eye health especially green vegetables, but eyesight is more a function of advancing age than any other factor. Have an eye test.

As for fading memory, that too is a function of age. What was the question again? :)

I've had cataract ops in both eyes, they said it was probably due to the drugs, I have also found that I am more forgetful, I put that down to low oxi in my blood.

Hi everyone who has kindly answered my questions, I shall know what to ask the doc when I seen her next week.

emmo

My Heads Gone too - My memory has been terrible for months due to low sats and not enough oxygen in the blood according to the docs, which can be costly in fuel when shopping as go a few times a day constantly forgetting everything or when forget I've rang people, as keep repeating my self and getting told off .....as forgetting have called them.. ooops

Doc didn't say if it will wear off though...
