Applying for housing. 1 question says is your health made worse by current housing, medical evidence required. Is COPD relevant ?

It does not matter what condition you have its how your present home affects your health...eg if you have problems with stairs or live in damp conditions things that might worsen your breathing.

Depending on how badly affected you are, the general fumes and atmosphere of a busy road could be a factor too. You may need to get medical backing for that, or your local council may even publish air quality figures.

Although not specific in what you require here, have a look at prha.net/ as a starting point - perhaps ask them to point you in the right direction for more support ?

If you are a council/housing association tenant you may be able to arrange a swap with another council/housing association tenant who lives by the sea and wants to be in london. It not what condition you have but how it effects health == for example damp, too many stairs ect.

Hi Suziekew ,

I know it sounds strange to the likes of us but people do want to move from what we consider heaven to , for example , live near family or friends etc so it could be worth a try xx. Do be mindful though of why people want to move away from their home , for example , bad neighbours xx. . If you are housing ass or council could you get a move on medical grounds to the coast ?? , i know London boroughs used to move people away from the city to more remote areas to free up city housing , worth a try too . Good luck xx. xxxx Dinny xxxx

Hi you will not know if you don't try ,some people love the city and hate the sea .go for it I am so very lucky I live on Canvey island so I live within walking distance from the sea and I could see the Mountain bikes at Hadiegh farm from where I live with viewing glass es ,which is great .Howhever I also live on a busy road main rd on and off of the island but I love the place and lived here all my life try going for a swap good luck.Jackie

Ooh I used to live on Canvey Island, many years ago. But then moved to Sussex coast which is even better for my lungs. Good luck with your quest, as dinny says, sometimes people might want to swap for family or work reasons
