Try an electronic cigarette (or ecig as they are known). They are helping me enormously in my fight against the dreaded weed
I use Skycig but there are many, many, more brands on the market and some are available at supermarkets like Tesco and Morrison.
Hi Mart
I tried and tried to quit and then I joined a very active quit smoking forum and it was a massive help - made lots of friends too. Used Nic lozenges and then the Nic Inhalator (much cheaper on Chemist Direct.co.uk).
NINE years quit last month and the best thing I ever did for myself.
I made a list of "things to do" and every time I had a crave I went and did something on that list. Also I stopped drinking coffee as that really made me want to smoke.
Hope this helps - you CAN quit - honestly.
I stopped after 30 odd years after being told by my consultant If I did not I would be on oxygen 24 hrs that was enough to scare me into it 18+ years ago. My hubby helped he stopped first. Keep trying and don't keep any in the house.
Just remember how breatheless you are when you are going to buy them.
Good luck

I smoked for 30 years and loved it and although I tried to give up several times (patches, gum, Zyban, electronic cigarettes) I did not succeed....
.... until this year when I used Champix at my doctors smoking cessation clinic. It worked for me as it made cigarettes taste awful and they didn't 'do' anything for me. I also think that as they don't replace nicotine, you lose the nicotine addiction. I have been off cigarettes for 8 months now and I know I will not start again.
Don't get me wrong, I have fleeting moments when I think 'It would be so nice'...but I don't.
Good luck.

I smoked for about 25yrs (what a waste) I loved it and honestly thought I'd never stop. 2009 started on the gum, stopped for a while back and forward with the gum, after the gum I went onto the patches, finnished the course and never had anothe FAG again, that was 18 months ago. I would have never have thought about stopping however one day I just had enough and was sick of it, Ironically went to docs with some other matter, scan and xray picked up the EMP what a bummer. No choice now but to give up.

after 42 years I am longing to give up smoking, I detest it but I just can't seem to pass my local without buying 10.
I've spent thousands, tried all methods including Champix unfortunaely I am still suffering from the depression that champix can cause to some.
In addition to my COPD I also suffer from Phsoriasis, the medication for this shuts down my imune system so I am suseptable to all sorts of colds, in the end I have cut down to 5-10 a day, not much good I know but it is an improvement.
All I can say is please keep trying, we are all built differently so don't give up
How can we do it when we have smoked for 50 years,i cant yet either and dont want to as i enjoy it to much ,but i know i am going to have to.
Omg I know exactly how you feel criss. I enjoy it so much. But I know I have to stop and soon. Im putting myself under so much pressure to do so that its making me stressed and then I reach for the fags... Keep trying - the latest champix - but will make another effort.
Good luck with your habit too love. xx
