Breathe Easy over the Diamond Jubilee weekend.

So, having previously mentioned the popularity of the London and South East team’s favourite COPD explanation – Can Only Plan Daily – I find myself surrounded by Breathe Easy groups who have spent the last month or so busily planning their Jubilee celebrations. From small scale tea parties to full blown, grant funded, multi-agency street parties it all seems to be going on in London – and I don’t think the other regions are any different.

What is it about the jubilee that has made everyone go out on a limb and push themselves further than many would normally think they could manage? I must confess that I find myself happily swept along with the red-white-and-blue-mania that seems to fill every shop, but I still find myself impressed with how inspirational some people seem to find it all. I wonder how many other people are happily pushing themselves beyond what they normally think of as their limitations to join in the festivities this bank holiday weekend. And what is everyone doing to safeguard themselves from doing too much?

I'm dreading it really, bank hols are always the worst and the loneliest of times.

I really hope it wasn't as bad as you were expecting Parvati. No-one should have to feel that alone.

I don't know whether you're already a part of a local Breathe Easy group but if not then you might like to look into it. Some of them only really meet up at their monthly meetings but others get together every week and sometimes over the bank holidays too. It might be a way to break through that loneliness at difficult times.

Hi Bethany

Thank you for your thoughts. It is a particularly lonely time for many of us at Bank Holidays I think. That said, I survived it on a cocktail of chocolates and various other treats I probably shouldn't have indulged in :) and enjoyed watching the Jubilee on TV, particularly the River Thames flotilla, and the Concert in the Mall. Now all is 'back to normal' it's time for me to do a bit more exercise to pay for my 'chocolate sins' (well, trifle and cheesecake too actually, lol ). My local shop will be open again too so I will go for my 'daily constitutional' and get out amongst the hustle and bustle again. Thank you for your kind comments Bethany, Parvati :)
