Building anybody?

A different story today.

My nephew, Jon, was adopted at birth by my sister and husband. All was weel for a couple of years before their marriage was under strain and they eventually divorced. Jon stayed with his mum and they both moved into our very large house in Ecclesfield. Mum & Dad complete with eldest daugter and young child. My sister and family, in total four, and the bay of the family me. My eldest sister eventually moved back towards Huddersfield where she met a wonderful man who she married and at the grand old age of 40 someting ad her own child.

They moved down to Southwell and in fact she is still there. Her daughter now lives nearby and keeps an eye on her mum. Jon had an eventful time at school, used to drive his new dad, and everybody else mad. But, he did work, went to University and became an architect.

He struggled to get established, lecturing in Huddersfield, taking on home extensions for people he knew around Southwell while developing his business in Liverpool.

I`m enclosing this link to his company`s facebook page.

The photos tell the tale.

Have a good day everybody, and don`t forget to change your clocks tonight.

You must be so proud knowing that you helped your nephew achieve his goal. What a beautiful story thank you.

Thank you. I don`t for one minute think that he is ready to slow down, despite having bought his alpine retreat. I don`t know how much of his facebook entries you`ve seen, but his office in Madrid is going in the right direction as well.

He works hard, and plays hard. He called his mum last night to say that he and his wife were back home after a week in France, and to say that Monday morning he and wife were off to London for the week, with various meetings lined up. Then on Friday he is off back to their chalet high in the French alps to "write up his PhD." He has said that many times, over the last 10 years or more, but each time he discovers better ways of doing what he does best. I.e. retrofitting old houses. Whether or not he completes it this time is the great unknown. His motivation is his son having said that he will get his PhD before his dad.

Whatever PhD his son is doing is anybody`s guess. Brilliant in all sciences at school. 4 A levels and planning to study molecular chemistry. Then he had an offer from Oxford to study linguistics and Italian! His reason, he fancies being a diplomat and the Italian ambassadors residence looks quite smart.

His Ph D could be anything he fancies. A high level autistic, very difficult as a youngster, but feels he is in the right place at Oxford as there are so many other "oddballs" there, he no longer stands out.

I`ll keep you posted, Chris.
