COPD Review

I had my COPD review today. A score of 3 on the Modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) breathlessness scale indicates that you stop breathing after about 100 yards or a few minutes of walking on flat ground, and that your condition is worsening.

I looked this up as I thought that if you stop breathing after 100 yards, then you're in serious trouble but the chart says "I stop for breath after walking about 100 yards" which isn't quite so bad.

When you say that your COPD is getting worse, were you at level 2 previously? If you haven't had it yet, pulmonary rehabilitation would help. Exercise is the key and hopefully they have reviewed your inhalers?

I haven’t been given any score but I’ve never had a walking test, only lung function ones. How does the clinic check if you’re getting worse or stable?

Yes getting worse now, but I knew it would and i can tell because i get more chest infections and am out of breath easily.

Sorry to read that. We do suffer with our lungs don’t we ?
