Chronic rhinosinusitis

COPD, asthma, arthritis are just a few of my health issues, but this sinus disease really is a pain, can hardly manage to breathe through the nose and at night time it's even worse. Nose spray and wash don't seem to help very much, so it really affects the quality of life.

I have however found that by put this little tube's that I have made and putting them in my nostril it opens up the nostril really very good, enough to help you breathe normally.

I use them for short periods just one at the time. They really are a blessing, so I thought I'd share this with you.

I not only feel the vast difference withbreathing, I can actually hear the difference.

That's interesting. I suffered from almost permanent rhinosinusitis as a child, but no-one ever came up with a remedy like this. Glad you've found a way of helping yourself.

hi , sorry to read you’re having such troubles. My husband is at his wits end with sinus problems - none of the usual treatments seem to to be helping . Dr referrals spin off into the ether …. Can you tell me how you made these little tubes ? Are they plastic or rubber? And how long/wide are they ?

I mostly use the top of the nasal inhaler sticks and cut them to a size that's comfortable to use, their not easy to cut as the plastic is hard but you can literally use anything of about that size. It has the same effect as if you hold the side of your nose and pull it to open to open the airway more. I really hope it works for him..we who have this problem know what it's like. 👍

An interesting solution.

Have you tried sinus massage? Another member mentioned it some years ago as being helpful. You can find out more here: integrishealth.org/resource...

Sinus problems are terrible especially if they get infected. I would be interested to know what these little tubes are that you have made, please let us know it could be helpful for those of us who suffer x

I normally make them from the nasal stick inhalers as we always seem to have them around house, there not easy to cut through the plastic but will last forever, if you don't lose them like I do. But you can really use anything, in the photo, one is a cap from a mosquito spray. Am really glad I found this method, I've been using it for a few years now.

I can promise you it really makes a huge difference to been able to breathe almost normal again.

😊👍

My biggest problem is an over production of mucus. I do get stuffed up at times and think this may help but would look for something softer. Thank you for your reply x

During my youth and until I was 45, I had catarrh and sinusitis continuously. My GP was always issuing me antibiotics to combat infections in my sinuses. Then, at the age of 45, I saw an ENT man at the hospital, and an Xray found I had a polyp in my sinus cavity. I had an operation, where the polyp was removed, holes made between my nostrils and my sinuses, and little bones in my airways at the top of my nose, trimmed. As near as I can remember, Sinipie Escopens. This increased the size of my airways. This made a tremendous difference. Easy access to oxygen was wonderful. I understand that if polyps are surgically removed, they can come back. This was quite a big op, as I was off work for a fortnight. Holes connnecting my nose airways and my sinuses made it, when I dived into a swimming pool, water went straight into my sinuses. Not nice, so gave up diving.

You need to see an ENT person at your local hospital. Also hayfever and rhinitis, which are allergy driven. I take antihystamine from February into October to combat pollen and mould spore allergies.

Some people have problems with house dust, animal fur or household cleaning products.

I've seen quite a few specialist about this and been advised about the operation but I decided not to go through with it. I just couldn't handle going through so much and know it will only last a few years before it grew back again. I still use the spray and sometimes the wash, but it's this little bit of plastic that helps me opening the airways to breathe almost normally.

I do take antihistamines sometimes, but I never know what affects me the most, dust, pollen or just everything ☹️😁

Doctors have said that they should be part of my daily maintenance medication, but l just let things slip out my head. I have had to much to be able to handle on my own. My new year resolution is to be organized.

I think some of the forums on HU can be a great help if I looked in more often than what I have been doing. 😊

Rhinostril poem

There was a chronic rhino

With rhinosinusitis

She really didn't breath so well

So this became a crisis,

Until she made these plastic tubes

Inserted left and right

Each nostril feeding oxygen

To end her rhino plight!

😁👍I have one right now in my right nostril, and the difference is tremendous, such a simple thing is a life changer for me. If it didn't look so gross I'd put the photo on 😁
