It is a injection

I looked it up. It is a biologic used for severe excema and, it seems, poorly controlled asthma. It contains no steroid. Interesting.

I think it can be used for chronic bronchitis as well as asthma, but not emphysema

I have been taking Dupixent for Chronic Rhinosinutis with Nasal Polyps for three years or more. It's done wonders for me, both for the nasal condition and for my moderate Asthma. I no longer have any Asthma symptoms and on my last PFT the administration of a brochodilator (albuterol) did not change ('reverse") the test results. I am also on allergy shots and no longer react to external allergens. My bronchiectasis no longer bothers me as well. Check it out. dupixent.com/

Dupixent is an injection every other week. I do it at home - it's easy. This medication started as a relief from Eczema and now has another four conditions it is approved for in the United States, including moderate to severe Asthma. I'm fortunate that my insurance covers it, but it was a battle to get it approved.

Pleased it is helping you with your symptoms ,I was wondering why it is not used for more people with asthma

The main reason it’s not used or offered to everyone is it’s the last resort and I imagine it’s the cost at over £1,000 per month ( every 4 weeks ) .

For people with COPD I was told it will only suit people with high eosinophilia levels ( what ever that is 😂white blood cells ) which apparently is similar to asthma

Its not available until around November for Copd sufferers , I’m seeing my consultant mid August and I’m hoping he’ll give me a more definite date as it really helped me in trials when I had it ❤️worked wonders for me and I’ve been told I’ll be available to have it

Hi Rich1957 ,do you have asthma, I believe it will only be used for some types of copd

No asthma at all , but as I said I have high levels of white blood cells ( eosinophilia) which I’m told is what some asthma sufferers have . ❤️

When I asked about going on it last year I was told one person in the U.K. is on it for COPD although my consultant was prepared to ask the manufacturer if they’d supply me as I’d had it twice before in trials ( one confirmed and one results not published yet , but I know I was on it ) . Then I went on another trail ( not biological ) which finishes on august 12th and also the same day i see my consultant so I'll find out more then .

could you tell me if you needed to be diagnosed with high eosinophils, or you just have copd?

Hi Batbara I am diagnosed with severe COPD , I go on trials whenever I can ( free check up ) and one of the stipulations on some of the COPD biological trials is that you have high eosinophil levels .

Regrettably on the last trial I wanted to go on for a different biological drug , they wanted a level of a least 400 which apparently I normally am but on the induction day my levels were around 290 so I wasn’t accepted 🤦‍♂️.

From what I understand it’ll only be offered to people with COPD if you have high eosinophil levels , which is a shame .

I’m seeing my consultant on Dec 9th and hope to be put on Dupixent as they have stated in letters I’d be an ideal patient for it . It got added to copd medication in September this year

Hi Rich, thanks for your response. Back in June My pulmonologist told me that I would have to have high eosinophils in order to prescribe dupixent. I saw him again last week, and he told me that it’s now been approved for copd. I am going through the process of getting my insurance to approve it for me. I usually don’t want medication, but when you struggle to breathe you’ll try anything. I’m waiting to hear that I’ve been approved, and will hopefully start on it, and get good results.

Hope you get on it , on the two trials of dupixent I’ve been on ( each one was for 6 months ) I didn’t have one chest infection and when you consider I’ve had 11 so far this year it’s unbelievable.

My chest infections are normally caused from the blood I can’t get up ( so far this year I’ve coughed blood up on over 130 different days ) and when it turns dark and I then have an infection but when I’ve took biological drugs they seem to completely stop .

That’s amazing! I hope you’ll be able to get back on it. I want to try it because I have emphysema, and Nothing seems to be helping since I had covid three years ago. I will keep my fingers crossed, and hope that I get approved.
