and in the main well controlled, had covid in 2020 after which I struggled with my breathing, my very un empathetic respiratory nurse ,put me on Spiriva with very little explanation for the decision, other than to say spirometersy tests are inaccessible and referrals to a specialist non existent!, and this was the accepted treatment for possible Copd anyway My birthday review is due and I wonder if I should challenge my current treatment things are on an even keel atm so maybe I shouldn’t rock the boat?

Hi Jonea. Spivira was first licensed in the U.K. as a copd medication. It was then proven to be effective in asthma and so now a lot of people with asthma have it. Basically it relaxes the airways and helps in preventing bronchospasm.
Question is, are you feeling better because you are on it, or feeling better because you are better?
I have COPD diagnosed 3 years ago, started with Spiriva and then a few months ago switched to Stiolto. Both effective for COPD, but only Spiriva is used for Asthma. Were you on a medication for your asthma prior to the Spiriva? As mentioned already only you can answer if you are better or if you are better because of the Spiriva. If you feel unsure or uncomfortable, it's always best to check with your Physician.
