Coughing up green sputum.

Hi. I have COPD and Asthma. Question is does anyone with these conditions cough up green sputum all the time. Even without infection. Thanks

I only cough up green phlegm when I have an infection, i do know some forum members have your symptoms without infection. They will probably post reply’s later.

same as the other person only when I have a infection I cough up green but even with out a infection I cough up mucus x

Only cough up green mucous when I have infection. Always advised if sputum is green then take emergency pack immediately. If not could get more severe even pneumonia. Xx

take a sample to your surgery for a laboratory test on it .This will determine if it’s an infection or not

Have done. It shows no infection.!

I cough up green stuff without infection, I make sure I nebulise and and do chest clearance 2/3 times a day. If I start feeling ill, I get a sputum test done x

I think I would be wanting to ask my GP to test for bronchiectasis just to check. Good idea to take sample to GP, and doing the regular chest clearance.

Should you take antibiotics even ifvery slightly yellow tinged sputum?I am never sure.

I was always told that but mine is always green. Took a sample in a dew weeks ago and had no infection so who knows x
