Asthma and colds

When I get a cold my peak flow can fall to levels which normally my asthma plan would say to start ringing the gp about. 50 to 60 percent of my max for several days. Issues with walking etc.

However I tend to feel, that I am chilled on the subject. My peak flow is low but stable. I can function, just slowly. So just wait it out.

Is that a reasonable attitude.

Not trying to be cheeky but I honestly think you need to ask your GP that. Personally, I can become complacent.

Hi Homely, my doc said if my peak flow drops to half my normal reading, then go to hospital. If it drops just slightly, watch and wait for readings to either steady or drop more. Everyone's peak flow is different so I will not talk numbers, but my advice would be to take a reading morning and night daily. You will then be able to judge what is normal for you. Take care, Maximonkey
