I have been referred to pulmonary oncology in relation to issues I have been dealing with.
I was diagnosed with eosinophilic asthma seven years ago. For the last five years I have been under a specialist and have been tried with various biologics which sadly have not helped.
After my holiday to Devon I noticed my bowel habits had changed and I had lost some weight ( difficult when you take prednisone). It got to the point where I actually forced a GP appointment - since then I have had a colonoscopy and CT scan. I mentioned this to the specialist as I thought it might have some relevance as I have had other symptoms which may be a precursor to vasculitis.
A nurse from the unit rang last week to tell me I would be referred to a clinic in relation to vasculitis. However when the letter has arrived it has stated I am to be referred to pulominary oncology.
I have not been informed of the results of the CT scan - my concern is that they have possibly revealed something that may or may not be related to vasculitis.

Im only guessing here.....I'd imagine that the letter from vasculitis clinic will also arrive - unless the person who called made a ridiculous mistake.
Thinking of you and hoping for the best, very worrying for you, well done you though on forcing an appointment with the GP . Good luck. P
I would go to the GP and ask for the results of the tests. Especially if your appointment for the other specialists are not within the next week. Your GP sent you for the tests so the GP needs to give you the results - not just someone ringing you to say you have been referred somewhere.
Also as you were first told that you would be referred for vasculitis and the letter is different, I would definitely be ringing them to find out if there has been a mistake. Mistake do happen. Get them to recheck it.
How confusing. It may hopefully be a simple mistake. When I received a call from my Rheumatologist to say my x Ray had shown a small mass & they were referring me to Respiratory team. My appointment letter came for ILD clinic. Needless to say I worried myself sick. Once there I asked the consultant why I was in that clinic as he had told me it wasn’t ILD his response was that he had no idea. I asked him if he could change it but 5 years later I’m still there.
Just saying it may be one of these type of incidences. I hope so. Wishing you all the best x
there are 18 different types of vasculitis and so many different types of doctor look after patients with vasculitis. With you having asthma and lung involvement my guess is they are trying to rule out EPGA a type of ANCA vasculitis. It maybe that you will receive a separate appointment for vasculitis but that needs to be with a doctor that has an in depth knowledge of it. They are mainly at the big teaching hospitals. Vasculitis tends to be diagnosed via biopsy together with blood tests. If you are going to Google this please head to vasculitis U.K. website or their helpline and keep away from the dodgy sites. Good luck I hope you get some answers soon.
Had my appointment. Took bloods and urine ( traces of blood in it). Wrote (long)list of symptoms for consultant. Want me back in four weeks. It wasn't oncology- it was the clinic I normally go to.
Nearly five weeks After my CT scan and no results. GP assistant could only tell me they are with someone. Specialist told me to chase it up.
