Hi all, I’ve been a little more breathless lately so took my oxygen reading with my oximeter. The readings fluctuated between 77 and 80 while sitting doing nothing. Is this cause for concern? TIA Christine.

Oxygen levels

I’d speak to your doctor if I were you Christine. Xxx👍
Yes that sounds a bit low but it dose depend on your normal levels but i would call the gp
Hi Christine, I am in hospital atm and they are trying to wean me off the oxygen. They are still not happy though for my reading to be lower than 88, so , yes call your doctor xx
Hello Leo 60. Sorry to hear your still struggling to get your levels back up. My aunt had the same problem. Once they withdrew the oxygen the level was down to 88 again. I think they sent her home with oxygen support machine in the end. But she is back in again because struggling to get rid of a chest infection. Hope your home soon love. Take care Brian
If you are unable to contact your gp then I suggest you phone 111. Your sats are on the low side and they will probably send someone to check you over. It may be your oximeter is incorrect or needs a new battery but you definitely need checking, especially as you are a bit more breathless than usual.
Yes that's low. It can drop on walking and then return on resting. Should be between 88 and 92 . I still find that low as Mine is around 94/ 95. You need to check that out. xxSheila 🙏💕
I think that’s a bit low for sitting. Phone your gp or 111. Please let us know how you get on.
try it on another finger, are your nail beds blue? as others say contact GP x
Also are your fingers warm? I find mine doesn’t work properly if my fingers are cold. X
Yes I should get in touch with your doctor or Respiratory clinic if you have one. The lowest limit should be 92. Take care Brian
You need either an urgent F2f appointment either with a gp or either advance nurse practioner and get checked out or get up to a&e my oxygen levels when i thought i had a chest infection was 80% or below i ended getting ambulance as i couldnt get to see the nurse who.told me to come back if worse i ended up dailing 999 and get ambulance out. The hospital thought it was flu i told them it wasn't flu but mention i had pleurisy few years back. By the time i got on to the ward i was told it ws healthcare associated pneumonia. I was in A& E previous weekend and a nurse was coughing and spluttering all over the patients including me never use a tissue or paper towel to cover her mouth when coughing no wonder bugs are going around the hospital when the staff dont cover their mouths with anything including back of hand they just cough over everyone.
Hello Christine. Like others have said that is a bit low. I think you need to speak with the doctor that prescribed the oxygen. Take care. xx ♥️
