Had to share happy news of the safe arrival of a much longed for grand daughter who has been born in Sweden. She is a little early and has a few cardiac issues but is gorgeous.

was thinking how lucky we are to be able to have technology that we can share in the joy a new baby brings. Its a joy to share her astonishment at having hiccups her ,not quite able to focus "who are you"moment and the happiness of her extended family all over the world.

Thank you so much for that -I have taken the respiratory consultants advice not to fly for over 17 years.Saw him last week -advice still stands-we are looking at ferries!

Thank you so much.I am not a competent knitter but have been busy knitting cardigans ably assisted by hubby saying encouraging comments like"is that supposed to have so many holes in it"or "looks very small do you think it will fit her" or "what is that?"!

HollyBoyd profile image
HollyBoyd in reply to Cloudancer

I'm sure there was lots of love went into knitting the wee cardigans for her xxx

Thepainterswife profile image

😂 knitting is compulsory for new grandmas - the quality of the finished garment is absolutely immaterial, it’s the true love contained in every stitch and hole that counts 😊

Congratulations!

You could always take the ferry . I did it a couple of times, very enjoyable and yummy food. Ferry to Göteborg then train to or from Stockholm. Or you could train it all the way.

Thank you that might be the way to do it.Half the joy of such a trip is the planning!

Congratulations Cloudancer, what a blessing for you and your family. I am sure you will get to see her, where there's a will there's a way and as Peege says there is a ferry from Immingham to Gothenburg, what an exciting time for you , keep on knitting they grow sooo quickly x

Cloudancer profile image
Cloudancer in reply to Izb1

Thank you!Lots of "unique" cardies are in production - by the time she is 5 years old may have mastered the art of buttonholes which seem to pop up all over the place -I insist they are buttonholes not abstract holes and not necessarily where they should be....

Izb1 profile image
Izb1 in reply to Cloudancer

Ha ha ha, I had the same problem as I am not a knitter and could only do one pattern. I ended up stitching round the hole to make them look more like a button holes x

What joyous news! I am happy for you and your family. I live far from my daughter and her family (northeast US/Australia). We "Skype" most nights: 5:30 pm for me is 7:30 am next day for her (closest to time travel I guess I will ever get). Her older son is 5, younger son is 2 and talking with grannie on ipad is their "normal". Hope you find something like that. Take care...

Cloudancer in reply to Anniebeen

That's a great idea many thanks Anniebeen. It gives me an incentive to try and suss out how all the button on my phone work.Isn't technology fabulous ?and how lucky we are to have it .

Yes! I remember when I was young my mother would get so excited when she got a letter from one of her sisters. I wonder if we could even write letters any more lol
