I always thought smoking weed was safer than cigarettes and read in a medical journal I get daily that it isn't so. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Weed vs. Cigarette Smoking
Your medical journal is not lying to you, and will be far more scientifically accurate and robust than anything any of us could say. Without getting into the legality of smoking recreational drugs, my understanding is that inhaling anything other than air (or medically approved medication) into the lungs can be dangerous, full stop, but anything smoke based, regardless of what it is that’s being burnt to make the smoke, is definitely unsafe. Vaping is generally considered to be safer than smoking at this point, but even then we know it still carries risks of respiratory illness and injury, so that’s also not risk free, and patients that vape to give up cigarettes are encouraged to wean themselves off vaping as a result.
Great advice Charlie__G
Makes sense Charlie, thanks!
Huh! Those who think weed smoking is safer than standard cigarettes are deluding themselves. I find the smell nauseating, and can frequently smell when my neighbours are smoking it, it wafts right down to the end of my large garden. It drives me indoors sometimes because it's so sickening. In my experience the "spliff" is made with cigarette tobacco as well as cannabis, anyway, and don't get me started on the stink from bongs 😱
I am not sure if the two are combined, I have never heard that but I know what they put in cigarettes is definitely not added to weed.
No they don't deliberately add saltpetre and other nasties to "grass" but grass on its own doesn't burn too good, that's why in "spliff" form regular tobacco is added by the user. Sorry but have suffered far too much experience of this by extremely close contacts, which is one of the reasons I'm a member of the BLF forum!
Apart from the fact that it can affect your mental health, make you stink, waste your money and choke up your lungs and that goes for cigarettes as well, it really doesn't have alot to offer you. You would be better of giving up and improving your health x
Just a question- I quit smoking in '03.
Sorry, thought with the question, you were supporting weed. Good for you on giving up smoking x
It helped me fall asleep; I didn't walk around stoned. Afraid to go back since this last bout of viral pneumonia. Was just looking for people's thoughts here.
I am assuming you're talking anout secnd-hand smoke.
Yes, swathed in the stuff from former long term partner who was an "occasional" weed user at the start, but as it's highly addictive and as it became, over the years, much more freely available was seldom seen without a smoke in hand! I'm not completely blameless as used to smoke cigarettes, but gave up many years ago. I also believe that dope smoking relieves the individual of a quite a few IQ points.
