I wonder if anyone else has experienced this and can shed some light on what it is and what causes it. As you can see from the photo every now and again I get what looks like grey mould appearing on my pillow, I think from either my saliva or cough or air breathed out at night.
I have bronchiectasis and I have asked the doctor and consultant but they don’t know. It is definitely related to my breathing as it never appears on anyone else’s pillows in the family. It is intermittent and comes and goes. I’m sure it is some kind of bacteria, mould etc and doesn’t seem like a good thing. Has anyone else ever experienced this or got any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Aljm. No I have never had any such thing. As you say, it could be saliva, especially if you have acid reflux. Or maybe from your nose if you tend to get sinus problems.
Do you use cotton pillows and wash at 60degrees or wash at 40 with a laundry disinfectant? That ought to see off any little nasties. We bronchs can't help what our bodies produce in the night.
Aljm so sorry I have not but only found out last August I have bronchiectasis. I hope you find out want it is. Could be coming from your nose as I have sinus problems also. You could look on YouTube to see if you can get answers from there. Not nice having bronchiectasis as since last year I had over 10 chest infections and I thing what made my worse is by getting covid after my 1st jab in January.
