I am 78years old, recent diagnosed with grade 1 diastolic dysfunction heart failure. Have any of you had the same diagnoses, what are you doing for it, and how long does it take to move from grade 1 to 4. Anxiety lever very high, and would appreciate any ideas from you. Thank you.

I have diastolic heart failure, no idea what stage but there is treatment which should help. I take digoxin and bisoprolol but I have such a complex medical history. If you do what you are told by the medics you should keep going for a while yet! It is not an immediate death sentence. I too am 78
The British Heart Foundation publish some really helpful booklets about heart failure. I don't know anything about your particular condition, but my husband has found the information invaluable. He is 78 and has severe aortic stenosis so also comes under the 'Heart Failure' umbrella.
One thing the information has done is reduce our anxiety!
My husband has also been referred to the Community Heart Failure team and the nurses are amazingly helpful. If you don't have this support already, it may be worth asking your GP for a referral.
All the best, xx Moy
