Hi Ken. Can't help you much, but just thought I'd say 'Hello!'

I think people have pointed you in the right direction to get some good information. I'm wondering if, by 'repository kit' you are referring to the 'rescue pack' that a lot of us have from our GPs. This is simply a supply of antibiotics and steroids to use as soon as we think there is a flare up / infection brewing so that we don't have to wait for a prescription to be done. This is particularly useful if the flare up starts at a weekend.

If the rescue pack is what you mean, you will need to talk to your GP or respiratory team about having it set up for you to use, but you will need advice first on when you should use it.

It sounds as though you have been left to get on with things. Maybe now is the time to flag up to the medics that you need a bit more support.

You may live in a remote village but I hope you will still have access to a good medical team who can help you to continue getting the best out of life. Let us know how you get on.

All the best, xx Moy

I have edited these replies to remove references to matters which are augmentative and have nothing to do with lung conditions; apologies to anyone whose comments were inoffensive, but would no longer make sense following my edits.

Could members please concentrate their efforts on helping Ken find a solution to his question? Many thanks.

As MoyB has said, probably you meant to say Rescue Pack. Which is an excellent reply and well sussed out. Living in a remote area I think it is an absolute must for you to have a rescue pack at hand, having to wait for a prescription to be made and then having to make your way to a pharmacy when suffering from a chest infection would be a nightmare. Worse still would be having to physically go and see a GP first, the phone line can be constantly engaged and phones are not always 100% reliable to make an appointment.

Remember that when you get one and if you use it, you must let your GP know so as to get it replaced. The GP will also make a record of the packs used as an indicator to your condition getting worse and your medication/inhalers needs modifying. Steroids being used too often can also be of concern.

Hi Ken - if it is your rescue pack (antibiotics, steroids & inhaler) that you are referring to, it might be worth checking the expiry date on the medications if they were issued a couple of years ago......I found my antibiotics had quite a short 'shelf life' and expired before I needed to use them.!!
