I had my lung function test today. Results from consultant in four weeks.
My husband and I arrived a bit early so waited outside. Also waiting was a sweet little boy, about 3 or 4 years old, with a lady.
An ambulance was parked up.
Out came the paramedics from the hospital and seeing the little boy's interest offered him a closer look but he was too shy. So instead they turned the lights on, went over to him, down to height and told him they'd turned the blue lights on just for him.
The look of wonder on his face was priceless. they spoke gently to him and gave him a little torch as a gift.
It only took a few moments from their busy day but brought joy to all of us.
How lovely that, should the little boy ever need an ambulance, he will have memories of kindness, that will surely make it easier for him.
Some years back, when the ambulance men were asking for a decent wage, a politician said that anyone could drive an ambulance. Maybe anyone could drive the ambulance but it takes a special person to be an ambulance man.
