I have my first appointment at the problem Asthma clinic in 2 weeks after having 3 attacks and 2 admissions in 3 weeks. Just looking to find out what might happen when I’m there. xx

Hi, sorry to hear you’ve been so poorly with your asthma. Sounds like a tough time!

I’m not sure about your clinic but hopefully someone here might be able to help. The asthma U.K. forum is also very helpful.

Hope things improve and settle soon!

Not able to help, but just want to wish you all the best for your appointment at the problem Asthma clinic. Hope it helps you find a better way to control your asthma.

Best of luck with your appointment.Treatments /investigations have progressed since I was diagnosed with severe asthma many years ago.Am sure someone with up to date knowledge will respond .

In the meantime would suggest keeping an asthma diary -anything you are aware of that sets you off? Keep a peak flow diary and write down questions you have before you go to the appointment .

I have found my brain goes on vacation when faced with new medical appointments and I come out thinking "wish I had asked that!"

Best of luck ,let us know how you get on

Hi MrsToshThey will ask you how you are feeling, whether you are breathless, tight chested etc. They will check what meds you are on and when you take them.

If you take peak flow readings, they will be interested to know what they are now and what they usually are. They will also weigh you and check your oxygen levels.

They might run some tests, like a FeNo test - you blow into a tube and keep an object/graphic level and they may do a simple spirometry test, just to see where you are now, which helps to monitor you in the future. I say might because breathing/blowing tests are not being or may not be carried out at the moment due to COVID.

There is absolutely nothing to worry about or feel apprehensive about - basically it is a lot of chat about how you are.

At the end of the chat they may change your inhalers or add in another one.
