Hi i had 5 valves inserted in my upper left lobe approx 2 yrs ago,i then had another inserted 3 months after that, unfortunately they did not achieve atelectasis in that part of the diseased lobe which is what they are intended to do,consequently i achieved no benefit from their insertion.Others have achieved better results and an improvement in gas transfers leading to a better lung function and quality of life so it is well worth discussing with your consultant if you would be an eligible patient and meet the requirements for this procedure.
Good luck

I will discuss it with the pulmonologist in two months. Bladder resection Tuesday, and since the neoplasia returned (noninvasive bladder cancer), I will be off the lung recipient list...although my oncologist thinks that’s absurd. I will keep you informed and wish you all the best, HHP.
