Type 1 side effects
I’m m clniniqlly extremely vulnerable.I had my Astra Zeneca at end of January..
Th day after I had a sore arm and all m joints ached.this lasted for 36 hours, then I was ok.
M husband had his,he felt under the weather, but ok after a couple of days.
I hope your grandson soon feels better.
Yes i had the same i felt unwell for about a week but im totaly fine now. As i hope he is soon ( i have A1 antitryipsin deficiency)
Perhaps try the diabetes.org.uk community. The info leaflet given at time of vaccination explains some people can get certain symptoms and these should pass in a couple of days.
Thank you x
I had similar side effects after the AstraZeneca vaccine within 6 hours. It lasted about 12 hours then eased but I felt off colour for over a week after. There was a post about a month ago when many forum members reported flu like symptoms after their vaccine.
Thank you x
The post a month ago was by ilos if you want to look it up. I hope your grandson looks after himself with regard to his diabetes while feeling unwell. It has been said that side effects show that the body is responding to the vaccine and beginning to produce antibodies. Best wishes.
Myhubby did he has diabetes next day he ached couldnt stopped sneezing coughing feeling cold lasted about 3 days
I am not type 1 but I had chills and a temp, stomach and headache for 3 days. Pretty normal amongst those who had AZ. As the grandmother of a 16 yr old type 1 girl, I am sure that your grandson is going to watch his levels very carefully whilst the vaccine is working. My granddaughter had pfizer vaccine because AZ not licensed under 18. She had a couple of days of feeling grotty but was soon fine. So pleased for your grandson that he has had the vaccine.
Thank you x they kept close eye on him allnight, much better this morning x
That's great. I'm sure that he will be fine. I am just relieved that the young type 1s have finally had the vaccine. They have had no help, protection or shielding through the whole pandemic even though diabetes can make the virus worse. Mind you my daughter said that type 1 less at risk than type 2 because they control their condition so much better than most type 2 do. They have to! Keep going type 1 grandma, I am absolutely there with you.x
I had the AZ had mild flu symptoms for 24 hrs then ok. Pleased to hear he's a little better this morning. Xxx
I have type 2 and I have Astra Zenica. I found that I had flu-like symptoms: tiredness, fever, nausea, lower left side abdominal pain. I filed a yellow-card. The fever lasted a day, tiredness about 3 weeks. However, the nausea and pain remained. I contacted my GP they thought it was Metformin XR and took me off Metformin for 10 days. I tried Metformin XR and again and abbonimal pain with nausea returned. So, I was taken off of Metormin.
My son & I have both had the Ox/AZ. We don't have diabetes and we both had the chills & a headache from about 12 hours after getting the jab for about 24 hours after that. Son felt a bit sniffly but I didn't, I just felt a bit "meah" for a couple of days. We also both had a heavy feeling in the arm we had it in.
Thank you, he's feeling lots better today x
