Yesterday we got my husbands CT scan results which we were dreading.
We had done what everyone tells you not to do and Dr googled ‘cavitating lung lesion’ plus as we were aware my husband had been transferred to the Cancer pathway for his CT scan we automatically thought the worst.
The cavitating lung lesion turned out to be a cavitated Asbestos which the specialist explained meant my husband had been in contact with a small amount of Asbestos at some point, but the lung had self healed itself and cavitated around the Asbestos leaving a bit of a boney matter, but basically nothing to worry about!
The CT scan did also show a 6mm nodule which they will now keep an eye on and give 12 monthly CT scans for. The nodule wouldn’t have been picked up on a normal X-ray so I’m feeling very blessed that he had the cavitated asbestos as it alerted us to the 6mm nodule on his lung which will now be kept a close eye on!
He has also been told to stop smoking which I’m going to make sure he does properly this time!
I hope this experience may help someone else out there.
Thank you so much to everyone for your kind comments and advice, it really helped us get through a dark time, thank you 😊
