I looked back at your posts. Not very clear when you had the clot. Is it recent? 98% of patients with PEs make a complete recovery so the stats are on your side. Have you had an Echocardiogram? This will show if your right heart has suffered as a result of the clots. Has this happened before?

Was there a cause for the clots or did they just happen? I am not sure about whether your other conditions make you susceptible to PEs.

I would ask for details about any tests, Echos, ECGs, blood tests, and how many clots and where they are.

Make sure you get a follow up appointment and keep track of your symptoms. It can take some time for the symptoms of breathlessness and chest pain to alleviate but if they don’t then get onto your GP or consultant.

You are likely to be on an anticoagulants for six months at least and if the clots were idiopathic then much longer.

Let us know how things go

Thanks Kate, clot in lung week ago still in hospital as oxygen levels low in saying that they have reduced me from 6 down to 4 see how I get on. I’m on apixiban but they don’t seem to know how I got it. I don’t smoke, or drink and try and exercise. I do have high BP but on medication for that for years. I haven’t had echocardiogram maybe because the clot was in lung . Thank you so much for you’re reply. Xx

As it was a pulmonary emboli it is really important that you have an echo. Low oxygen levels indicate that you might have pulmonary hypertension. Very surprised that they haven’t done one. 🤔

Hi Souter. I had a Pulmonary Embolism in Late September and was in the hospital for about a week. The shortness of breath and low oxygen levels have slowly improved and I was put on Ambulatory oxygen. I had an Echo but this was done as an outpatient about a month after I was discharged. I am on Apixaban and because there was no apparent cause for the clot I have been told I will probably be on them for life. (No big deal, just an extra two tablets a day). I hope you soon feel better and look after yourself. John 😀

Hi Kate , having CT scan of abdomen and pelvis as ca125 was increased when I was in hospital. Because I work in health and social care I was offered the vaccine but my GP said not to take it until all tests come back. I would have imagined if I had ovarian cancer I would have symptoms..

I am sorry to hear this. You have enough going on without having this additional worry. Keep in touch, maybe by private message? All the best

Best wishes. I hope they can sort out your problems soon. It's horrid being stuck in hospital not knowing what's going on.
