Hi anyone have any info for the covid vaccine ?? Will it benefit people who have lung problems ? Any thing against us having it ? I’m just not sure I read that underlying conditions might not have it

Hi there

As I understand it anybody 65 and over will be given the vaccine first before those diagnosed with underlying conditions. If you are 65 plus and have an underlying condition such as lung disease ,then you will, I would think, be included in that age bracket. This was On the gov. Site dated 2nd December.

Also on the site, the list of underlying conditions is quoted, COPD being one of them. If you have any misgivings or feel you need to check your individual circumstances for having the vaccine then best to consult your GP Practice.

I have talked to both my ILD consultant and my pulmonary hypertension consultant in the past 10 days and they have both said to definitely have it. They know my condition well and are fully up to date with all the medication I take. I will take up the opportunity for the vaccine when it is my turn very willingly.If you are unsure you need to talk to your GP or consultant.

It could be detrimental if you don't have it if you are exposed to the virus.

I live in the states and, according to the news, front line people (Drs, nurses, etc) and people in nursing homes will get the vaccine first. Then people with underlying illnesses, such as us, and over 65 will get it next. Most likely, it will take 2-3 months before everyone in these groups will get it.

They said there could be side affects to the vaccine, but I'd rather have a sore arm, and not feel well for a day or two, then get the virus. From the information I'd heard, the virus goes after the lungs, so we don't want to take the chance of getting it.
