Mum's panic

Hi again just received letter from adult hospital Dr saying my first visit wont be till end of next year. Due to the virus this has sent mum into meltdown mode. We are hoping the open access I have with child Dr will keep me on but it's all up in the air so just wondered how you all cope when unwell just incase. Letter says I might just have to rely on gp and ae is this the norm. Thanks for any help.

If you where under a specialist consultant as a child Pokermon you should transfer over smoothly to one that treats you as an adult.Mum is right to go into meltdown as that sort of delay is totaly unacceptable regardless of the present regimes pressure treating covid patients.

Hopefully the introduction of a vaccine will take some pressure off the system and things will return to near normal in the future,i and others with similar ailments are facing considerable delays seeing consultants at the moment but hopefully things will improve and at least we are still registered as patients with them?

Hope Mum can resolve things favourably in the near future for you. :)

Thanks so do i as she gets bit edgy when things don't run smooth ly. Agree with you if we can get vaccine then we just need to take care of our other problems. Stay safe.

Hi Pokermon,

I would try ringing the new consultants secretary and explaining your situation and ask if there’s any chance you can see them sooner. How often would you usually see your team?

Mum tried that but no luck. Usually every Feb and September and breathing test every two months. Usually if unwell just phone children's ward and they sort it out medication.

Hmm, in that case, hopefully your open access to paediatric team will still help. I think if you were actually feeling poorly and needed to see one of the team, you could ring them at that point. My doctors have always been very good on that front. It’s obviously all out of sorts at the moment but I’d hope any decent consultant would be at least happy for a telephone appointment in that situation!

Hope you’re otherwise ok?! ..that your college work is going ok and you’re managing to keep yourself occupied while you’re stuck at home!!

Take care& stay safe 😊

Gosh I hope you can have access to someone in the adult hospital as this seems like a long time when you are crossing over - hopefully if needed paediatrics will step in xx
