Thanks again everyone for all the great advice on getting a dog. Suzy is a rescue dog, an old girl at 11, but looks like a puppy! She’s my role model.

That’s great news 😊Wishing you both much happiness 🐶

It's wonderful that you have given a little old girl a loving home for her later years. I wish you both so much comfort and joy. So does Twinkle who is cuddling on my lap, disgusted that it is raining too much to go out. That's the best thing about little dogs. They love to go out for a toddle but are happy with extra fuss indoors when we or the weather aren't up to it. xx

Thanks so much, Littlepom! Yes, same here as am quickly learning . We tried to go out earlier, with Suzy in her little yellow raincoat with me holding a child’s umbrella over her, like the Queen, but she wasn’t having it!

That’s so funny. Twinkle had a very smart red raincoat. The first time I tried to put it on him we were out for the day in Straford. He sat down and steadfastly refused to walk in it so I ended up carrying him all day. They certainly know their own minds.

BTW Twinkle is 11 and still very lively.

Same here. Just goes to show you can’t judge a book by its cover! Or age in this case.

Hello BB, 👋

Mine is also a rescue. He was abandoned in a locked up flat only to be discovered with five other dogs a week later. Two died of starvation and dehydration. He's a blessing. 💓 Would love to see your Suzy. xx 😊😁

The only dog I have ever owned was a Yorkshire terrier. We named him Murphy. He lasted 12yrs and we all loved him. Never could replace him. Enjoy your Yorkie they are wonderful companions. xxSheila 🐕🐕🐕🙌

Good choice. At 11 her mad puppy days are behind her but she should have a few more decent years

I've just got another rescue, a terrier who is ten but acts like 2. Makes me get up and moving even on a bad day so back to walking again. Ok it's not far and not fast but it's a start. Lost my 16 ye old shih Tzu a few months ago and was unsure about getting another but it's the best thing I could have done. Apart from the walks she is amazing company. Can't even go to the loo without her lol

We have always had rescue dogs they give so much. So many are in rescue centres looking for a new family. Looks like Suzy is lucky.
