The answer is home deliveries.

An exemption card won't protect you from children or others who are exempt of course. But if you want to go that route, see pinned post "face mask exempt badge"

Keep calm and carry on puffing.

Hi you can buy lanyards and health exempt cards from Amazon. Or you can print one off online. BLF have one. I went into gov.uk and printed one off.

Get yourself some visors instead. I've found it dangerous blundering around in steamed up glasses crashing in to things. Doing shopping in short bursts is how I manage so lessening the time I wear my mask. Also wear the masks you can pinch in at the nose stops glasses steaming up.

I most definitely wouldn't be going in to any shop without face covering

I have a sunflower lanyard from the Hidden Disabilities web site. It has a card attached that says I am exempt from wearing a mask.

I haven't needed to wear it yet but keep it in my bag so that if I struggle too much with the mask, I can wear the lanyard and take the mask off. I will always wear the mask when I can manage it.

The lanyard cost me about a fiver i think, including the postage. It was very easy to order and arrived within a few days. I believe that they are available free in some supermarkets (I heard that Tesco had them) but of course, you have to go into the supermarket to get it which is why I preferred to pay for one online and have it delivered.

There are a lot of people wearing the plastic visors and that may also be an option that would suit you. xx Moy

I have found I can manage much better with a face shield than a mask as I am on oxygen 24/7 so a mask was not really an option but I do also have the exemption badge on my phone as well if I decide to take the shield off

I got a demisting cloth from the opticians, which works! I tried several types of masks and washing my glasses etc, that didn’t work for me. I got a visor but that misted up too, all that heavy breathing. I get my groceries delivered and will carry on with that and then I only need to go in shops if I really want to. My main problem is that I have had to give up my hearing aids when using a mask as there’s too much behind my ears.

You can get plastic expanders online which go on the back of your head and allow you to attach your mask to them, this frees up your ears so will not interfere with wearing hearing aids

I wouldnt go out without a face covering so try a visor, there are some really good ones out there. I have seen so many people wandering around Tesco without face coverings and they are never tackled, which is a shame as you are putting yourself and others at risk. You could of course have home delivery x

I went to my opticians yesterday for a long overdue eye test

This is resulted in the need for new specs.

I asked the optician about misting as I found wearing the heavy glasses they put testing lenses in plus mask hard to deal with, and had to ask for time out to de-mist and breathe.

Evidently opticians have been sent sample de -misters from manufacturers but failed to find one that totally worked.

Back to the drawing board...
