Hi, I was disagnosed with allergic alveolitis in February this year and I am a new member on the site. I would like to get in contact with other members that also have this diagnosis to exchange experience support and advise. I have been told that it is a rare disease and only very few people are diagnosed very year. Hope to hear from you. All the best and stay safe, Susanne

Welcome to the group. I'm sorry, I can't help you as I haven't got your condition. Hoping someone will come along soon who can help you more.

HI Ergendl, thank you for the kind replay. Maybe I should mention that the diagnosis is also called Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP). Have a nice evening All the best S

Hi and welcome.

Is that an allergy to the Aspergilloma mould?

I suffer with Aspergillosis and I’m not sure if it’s the same thing. You’ll probably put me right but I’m not sure.

Hi Mavary, thank you for the reply. I have just checked Aspergillosis and it is not the same as allergic alveolitis - even though my allergic alveolitis is caused by mold in an old building . "It is an inflammation of the alveoli (airspaces) within the lung caused by hypersensitivity to inhaled organic dusts. Sufferers are commonly exposed to the dust by their occupation or hobbies. ..Unlike asthma, hypersensitivity pneumonitis targets lung alveoli rather than bronchi..it is also called Farmers lung.

Ah! Thank you for that. I wasn’t quite sure.

Just found this forum, ago after a struggle with Gp trying to identify his condition for almost a year during covid . My husband finally came under the care of a wonderful consultant and was diagnosed with Alveolitis/ Interstitial Pneumonitis.

We have been told it is very rare and not come across anyone else with the condition. In our neck of the woods- West Midlands Nor do we have any idea where or how he could have been exposed to the mould that resulted in the condition.

So far the medication and oxygen therapy for daily walks of around 3-5 miles are keeping him healthy.

All the respiratory specialists we have met in hospital have been brilliant and very supportive. I once put a call in to the Lung Foundation to find out if there were any support groups in our area despite leaving contact details, I never heard back from them.

So we are pretty much facing this on our own, I am sorry to hear that you too have this condition and send much love.
