Can't go outside when it's cold due to possible covid in March. Anyone else having this?

When i get cold or go outside, even on a warm day my chest is sore when i breathe in. It takes a while to recover from it so I am avoiding going outside which isn't fun. I had a virus that effected my breathing in March, it was possibly covid. Since then I have been diagnosed with costocondritus, but that doesn't bother me as much as the cold sensitivity.

I'm interested to see if anyone else that has had covid has this problem? It's really affecting my life and want to find out how i can manage it.

Many thanks : )

Hi Shuvy, I am wondering if you had a test in March to see if you had covid, did you do that? And even if you didn't back then don't you think it would be wise to get a covid test? If you are positive you could be infecting many peoples around you.

Having looked up this condition you currently have it says it causes pain and tenderness of the breast bone, it can be really sore, so I am thinking it would be wise to find out from a respiratory professional as to what treatment you could possibly get. Such things as treatments to relieve pain and therapy. Good luck. I pray you are not infecting others around you.

I came on here for advice, not to be accused of infecting others. I haven't seen any friends or family since February. I am still shielding and always wear a mask when i go to the doctors. I'm extremely careful. When my symptoms started in March i called 111 and they said i couldn't have a covid test because i did not have a fever. I was already on lockdown before anyone else was because I knew how serious covid was. I have been researching the virus since January! It is not possible to have covid and be contagious for 4 months, so of course i wouldn't get a test now. I haven't been in contact with anyone, so there is no way i could have picked it up by staying in doors for months! Please be careful on here, there are people suffering and scared, so the last thing they need is to be accused of infecting people with a very serious virus.

I almost certainly had covid in march as did my friend. We both still have increased sensitivity to pollen and so on. So its not surprising if you still have sensitivity.

I am still having a weakened chest at the moment and I am getting colds and chest infections which I never have previously this time of year.

It is slowly getting better though it just takes months, so don't give up hope.

Hope that helps

Hi Georgel. Sorry to hear you guys have been having a bad time with this too. It's strange how different people have very different symptoms with the virus. Glad to hear that you are slowly getting better. I think mine is improving very slightly, so we will see what the next few weeks bring. I have been reading that there is often an inflammatory response in the chest after the virus passes, and this is the reason for some of the symptoms. I'm not sure if this will help you and your friend but i have been reading about buckwheat honey, they have conducted studies using buckwheat honey in one group of patients and dexamethasone in the other and buckwheat honey has worked just as well for their respiratory problems, if not better. I ordered some yesterday so i will let you know if i see good results. It has antibacterial properties and is great for the immune system and promotes healing in the body. Sounds amazing! I would also recommend taking turmeric and black pepper supplements, it might help with your infections.

Wishing you both a speedy recovery! : )

I am asthmatic and have a high dose inhaled steroid. The doc put me on a 5 day course of a high dose steroid. about 6 weeks after the worst of it and that helped the breathing a lot, but picked up a chest infection a few weeks afterwards. So we are now just letting nature take its course. Bizarrely the thing that helped the most yesterday was... a big mac meal. Think I needed more calories !. slept sooo much better last night. Doh. :)
