Help with dog choice please!

I am quite overwhelmed by the kindness of so many of you who have given so much good advice! Be assured, I shall be busy reading every single one in depth and reflecting hard on your thoughts. I must apologise for giving the impression I had a cat (and possibly another dog). It was just the hoover I was referring to! It's called a "cat and dog" hoover! I am now retired, so well past the first flush of youth, and will, I hope, choose suitably therefore. I will, of course, keep you posted. Thank you so much you great people, and stay safe and well.
