Does anyone wheeze when lifting/carrying objects or wheeze if nervous?
I'm undiagnosed and I've notice when I pick my little boy up and walk across the living room, I tend to wheeze (like a squeak breathing out) but I'm not out of breath and have no other symptom, I find I get a build up of pressure top of chest before this happens. It's the same with if I get shocked as well, like I tense up and I get the squeak sound.
If so, what condition do you have? It might help get to the bottom of whats up with me.
I've had so many tests and just being tested for asthma at the moment but not really responding to anything. CT scan is normal too.
Thanks

No one here i a medical professional but my first thoughts with what you are describing, was asthma / anxiety.
I'm clutching at straws at the minute, 18 month and no one knows what's going on. I'm kinda doubting asthma at the minute as I'm on day 3/5 of 40mg Pred and I don't feel any different. Ventolin isn't working anymore either. I'll persevere until Monday as Dr is calling me to see how steroids are getting on.
Everything has come back normal apart from PFT that show obstruction so can't be in my head.
Gosh I guess if you have been prescribed prednisolone you must have lung / air way inflammation, but then if they are not helping,... I do hope you get to the bottom of this so that things can improve for you. Good you have chat appointment with doc on Monday. Have you been checked for Alpha 1 yet?
No not been checked for that, but it will definitely be in the pipeline at some point. I might ask my GP actually, when she calls on Monday- may as well get that out the way whilst I'm waiting for my other tests, thanks for reminding me of that.
Exertion & tension are common triggers for asthma. I have asthma & Bronchiectasis & sometimes can’t tell which is causing my problems. A recent course of 40mg did nothing for me. Not everyone benefits from Ventolin. You could try another bronchodilator? I’d avoid the dry powder ones if you’re prone to wheeze.
When I was first dx’d with bronch, the lung damage was so mild it didn’t show up on the first CT scan! I was dx’d by a Prof at the Brompton, going on history & symptoms alone. Of course this was 25yrs ago.
Covid has come at just the wrong time for you hasn’t it. What a pain!
You're not wrong, covid has really put a kibosh on everything at the minute. Like you say, the worst time for me.
Well I could have bronc still I guess, the radiologist who reported my CT made a comment about early bronc, however my respiratory consultant doubted this and since then, 2 other radiologists have also disagreed with the report. I have no history of childhood illness and since my viral chest infection that caused all this in Xmas 2018, I've had 1 bacterial infection (my 1st ever) 12 weeks ago. Coincidence? I guess we will find out. So clinically I don't 'yet' fit the criteria for bronc. Also, 25 years ago CT scans weren't as advanced as they are nowadays, with the processing algorithms and slices (radiographer by occupation 😁). But bronc is definitely in the picture still.
My consultant is confident it's asthma but has told me I'm very atypical. I've been ordered a methacholine challenge test, but God only knows when I'll get that. I've also got a ENT referral too. We are hitting everything hard lol.
May I suggest you try learning diaphragm exercises such as singing exercises or physio exercises to strengthen your breathing muscles and control, which may help. Wishing you all the best.
