Last week my main concentrator malfunctioned. The unit did not sound an alarm so I did not know. It was probably out a couple of hours as I napped as my chest felt heavy when I awakened. When I tried to get up for the bathroom I was immediately short of breath and gasping for air. My good friend chose that moment to come for a visit and called 911 as I was turning blue. She also heard faint sounds from the concentrator and go to me on my oxygen cylinders. Paramedics came and stayed with me as my oxygen levels rose to the 90’s. Oxygen company had new concentor saddle toe within the hour. This was the most frightening time of my life. My loom friend saved my life with an impromptu visit. I am still shaken to the core one week later!!

What a frightening experience! 😮 I hope the oxygen supplier does a full investigation and ensures it doesn't happen again.
Omg what a scary experience for you. I hope you will regain your confidence and feel better soon. So glad your friend was visiting you.

OMGoodness!😲! As a 24/7 oxygen user myself it is always a worry if your main concentrator fails although you should have portable canisters(which I think your friend connected you to). Also a big daddy version which stands like a bad ornament on my bedroom floor, already with new cannula to open and attach if the need be etc. I'm with Air Liquide who are brilliant and i can only praise the service they provide. Your provider got to you within the hour you say so that is good. Maybe keep a portable, with hose attached near to you in bedroom for easy access if ever you have a "situation" again. Glad you are feeling a bit better and be kind to yourself as it is on hell of a terrifying time when it happens to any of us. Best wishes x 🐿🌈
Thank goodness for the impromptu visit from your friend and her immediate life saving actions. I'm sorry you are still a bit shaken.
We had a power cut a few weeks ago and I was in the same position. Trying to set up my portable oxygen up in the pitch black was a nightmare. In the end I heard people on the street and asked them if they knew how long it was out for. Once they realised I couldn’t see to do my oxygen they stuck a torch on a long prop and passed it to me so I could then set my portable nippy up. I now keep a torch permanently in my bedroom and nippy next to my bed.
