I’m high risk Covid19 but doing ok

My gardener has been last 2 wks - distance when paying. I’m hoping that I can ask my handyman to start on some jobs outside and maybe jobs on downstairs extension if I stay away upstairs? I know that I can wait, but I’d benefit so much if I had downstairs chill out space. Please let me know what you think! I am on my own 💕💕📿

I think outdoor work is fine. We had our gardener cut our grass the other day and our window cleaner has come throughout the lockdown. We leave the money in a jam jar on the step.

However, I think it is a different ball game having someone working in the house, even if you are upstairs. You need to remember that the virus lives on hard surfaces for at least 72 hours. You would have to carry out stringent cleaning after he has gone, cleaning anything he may have touched and being careful not to touch any part of your body or clothing whilst you do so.

If you think that is possible, then fair enough. I don’t know your property or the area in which he will be working, so only you can make that decision.

I have a hole in my kitchen ceiling and another in the dining room as a result of a repair on a faulty shower. They are sealed over with cardboard, but they really annoy me. However, I fear they are going to annoy me a good while longer!

I would agree with Troilus, outside ok keeping distance, but maybe wait a bit longer for inside work, until we can really see that infections and death rate is dropping. Trouble is the workman you just don't know how many homes and people he has been in contact with.

Hello Sunfloweronline 🌻. I think Troilus is right. The outside is fine. But maybe wait a bit more for the inside. I have asked the lovely lady that cleans for me to come starting July. I feel safer that way. You've waited this long, just a tiny bit longer now. xx 🌷🌿🌼

Unfortunately, despite shielding, we have to have two people come into our home next week. The first is to hopefully fix the fridge/freezer and the second is to fix the bathroom lights so we can see what we're doing at night without a torch! Both necessary jobs.

Both firms have assured us they will observe the Govt. guidelines but I am still anxious about it and don't relish the thought of the cleaning afterwards.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

xx Moy

The decision has to be yours , could you move out for a few days while its done then leave it 72 hours before you move back in ? Just another option some people including yourself might be able to consider. Think the wait a little longer might be the best idea. Take care

Yes, outdoor stuff fine. If you can pay gardeners by online banking as I do, that’s your best bet. Or put cheque/cash (if you must) in envelope before they come and place in safe outside space, eg under bin.

I would forget any inside work, definitely, for reasons everyone has indicated. I can’t see how moving out would work at all; where would you go, and surely that would set up another whole set of risk factors?

Focus on enjoying your garden, especially while weather’s good!

Good luck!

My shower went on strike end of mar h. This is top floor of3 st house so complerely impossible. I really miss that and i think I know the part to replace but dont want to make it worse, so frustrating. Actually everyone is almost as bad as water supply has been reduced to save water! Cold showers all round. Does this come under law or advice. Commonsense ,I think, says No
