Potato power: Spuds serve high quality protein that’s good for women’s muscle.

Researchers from McMaster University have found that the potato, primarily known as a starchy vegetable, can be a source of high-quality protein that helps to maintain muscle.

The findings, reported in the journal Nutrients, highlight the potential benefits of what is considered a non-traditional source of protein, particularly as dietary trends change and worldwide demand has increased for plant-based alternatives to animal-derived sources.

“While the amount of protein found in a potato is small, we grow lots of potatoes and the protein, when isolated, it can provide some measurable benefits,” says Sara Oikawa, a former graduate student in the Department of Kinesiology at McMaster and lead author of the research paper.

Possibly written by a vegan or vegetarian. But accurate in that protein found in potato is small :)

According to Nutritional facts site 100g of potato with skin offers 1.9g of protein

and also has a fair amount of vitamins and minerals too :)

Any advice on good sources of protein that's would meet your recommended daily need? Have I got this right? The older we get the more protein we need? And should our diet be protein led or rich die to lung conditions? Sorry for my ignorance, trying to read up on best foods for copd but so much conflicting advice/opinions out there 🙈 thank you 😘 xxx

It is my understanding that consuming protein builds muscle and you can use a lot of muscle power to breathe if your lungs are struggling.Eating adequate protein must be a good idea for us.

Gentle exercise as well will prevent muscle wastage if you are not as mobile as you once were xx
