Response from Gov.uk

Hi all, I hadn’t/still haven’t received a letter despite several serious health problems and being isolated from family (200+ miles) and friends so no support.

Anyway, I registered with gov.uk and on Wednesday I got this response ...

Worth ringing your surgery. They have input to list as far as I know

I did phone and was told, ‘there’s not a marker on your file so you’re not serious enough’. Apparently the gov/NHS left a visible marker on the files of those people serious enough to be put on the list. She then explained, ‘it’s only the worst of the worst who are on it.’

Hopefully you’ll get an email from a supermarket early this week.

Stay safe. Xxx

I’m not in urgent need of food etc like some people as I normally do a month’s shop at a time and got my last delivery on 21st March so I’ll just keep persevering.

I got this text as well and yesterday I was contacted by Asda informing me that I was eligible for a priority delivery slot.

I then received a further email from Asda with a confirmation of my delivery pass.

I was then able to get a delivery booked and also to reserve it as a recurring weekly slot.

A weight off our minds.

I should point out that I received no NHS letter, GP said I was not flagged as extreme.

I can only assume that the Asda success is a result of self registering on the Gov.uk link.

How long after the text was it that ASDA contacted you?

Hi MissKota

Aren’t you allowed to go out and shop?

As I understand the extremely vulnerable list is people with heart and lung conditions, unstable diabetics, immunosuppressed and other serious conditions. There is a full list on the Gov support pages.

Do you have a severe condition

I agree that priority online shopping should only be for the people shielding and in isolation.

No, I can’t go and shop unfortunately due to other health issues, especially if I had to queue. Sounds ridiculous but if I stand for any length of time (9 minutes was my maximum during tests) my blood pressure drops rapidly and I pass out. Normally if I go out, I have a friend with me but she’s in isolation too.

I should also point out that we were already registered as online customer with Asda (and all of the other supermarkets).

That’s handy to know as I’ve been an online customer with ASDA for the past nine years and also have a delivery pass, so fingers crossed.
