Self-isolation and reading. Part 2

Plenty of suggestions posted about your favourite choices whilst in self-imposed purdah part One, but what about some humour to go with the Classics of English Lit.? I offer a scene where Jane Austen in regency attire with bonnet is sitting at her publisher's desk. He is looking stern and says:" Yes, Miss Austen, your new novel is definitely a winner but all this effing and blinding will have to go.".

Any other such humorous instances will be welcome.

All creatures great and small, and the other James Heriot books; Eavesdroppings; just some of my favourite humorous books.
