We have a fortnight of various school concerts (of assorted grandchildren), commencing tomorrow.

We would love to go but wonder about attending due to Covid-19.

I am 70+ have long-standing asthma and am prone to chest infections.

I don't want to be a wuss (is that a word?!) but also don't want to be unnecessarily Ill.

What would you do?!

Hello Rostom, I’d see if there was anyone who could video the concerts for me. Better to be safe than sorry. It’s your decision of course. Take care xxxxx

Thanks, sassy 59. Your idea is an excellent one, if we don't go.

The thing is that our daughter has pad for our tickets and we feel we ought to attend. We have five concerts this week and two the following (v musical family!).

We cannot find any official advice online.

I feel I ought not take any unnecessary risk but my husband says we could pick C-19 up anywhere, so we may as well go.

I would not go it's not worth the risk

Not sure but dont think you are allowed to video. The school can. Check first

But as sassy said best be safe I'm sure your family will understand. Look after yourself

Hello Rostom ,👋

I wish I could say go, but if there is a big crowd in an enclosed space I'd be worried and cautious. It is a risk no matter how we slice it. Over here, the school / kindergarten often have their own copies of the concert on video. I wonder if you could explain the situation to the school and pay for a copy of the video they take? That is if spectators are not allowed to take videos. It's horrible that we have to miss out on these occasions, but we are very vulnerable. I hope you find a solution. 😟

Take care,

Cas xx 🍀

I wouldn’t go in any crowded situation. Not everyone is going to become infected. We just don’t know who will and who won’t.

wear gloves don't kiss anybody and enjoy your Grandchildren's concerts. That's what I would do. I have IPF and am on oxygen 24/7

Just an update for anyone remotely interested!

The decision was taken out of our hands as our daughter (who bought and still held the tickets) decided that we should not attend.

This is an expensive decision as there is a series of concerts with tickets bought but she has deemed that being in an audience is a risk not worth taking.

Lovely daughter but am sad about missing the concerts - although secretly pleased that I don't have to risk anything (I tick many boxes for a problem should I contract C-19).

Oh, the relevant bit (of our grandchildren) was videoed.

Many thanks for everyone's input and suggestions.

Hope everyone stays safe...
