Morning all, just about feeling a little with it. Operation went well but one of my vocal cords was paralysed during the op it so I can't talk, they say there are a couple of things they can do to hopefully bring it back! Had a bad infection and have been on 3 different types of antibiotics was overdosed on oxygen as they didn't take into account buy COPD! Finally on the road to recovery and with a bit of luck will soon be out of hospital.

Glad it's behind you now. Hope your vocal cords will be alright. Always something! Keep us updated on your progress. We're all hoping your recuperation runs smoothly for you.
Pop in and chat anytime. You might be bored stuck in the hospital !
So glad to find you are now on the other side of the operation. You know you are the 3rd person I have heard who has had a vocal chord messed with in an operation. One young girl had a throat op and they did something to the vocal chord and a friend who had an operation on her shoulder had a problem too. Both are fine now so am sure you will be too. Hope they can sort it all out for you.
Well you will be an expert on antibiotics by the end of all this! Anyway they should help to get you better soon. You know I often think when having an asthma attack there is no way you could possibly overdose on oxygen - but you can overdose on anything.
Hope everything goes well now and you are soon home.
Take good care of yourself and keep taking the tablets - like you have a choice! Ha ha ha!
The vocal cords can be irritated by the breathing tube, which is inserted after you are asleep, to allow passing of gasses. It is quite a common thing for the cords to be a bit inflamed. Good Luck with your recovery overall, and your vocal cords in particular. x
They don't know but will not do anything for 6 months they would rather wait to see if it comes back on its own it could take upto 2 years if it does come back. There is an operation they can do but not till after the 6 months. Jan xx
Hi Jan so glad your operation is done, and you're now on the road to recovery . I have my op on Tuesday so any tips welcome. Hope your vocal chords sort themselves out and you go from strength to strength
Yes Jan I have been warned it's painful, hope you are now over the worst and will soon be home. I was told at the hospital that only 18 percent of lung cancer is diagnose while it's operable, so although I have a long way to go I count my blessings every day. I'm 52 and I think the GPs didnt really consider cancer for a while . Sending lot's of love for a speedy recovery
Hi Tasha, I am home from hospital now was in 8 days. Each day now I feel improvement, today I have the clips taken out of my wound, OUCH!. I think to expect the worse then it a bonus when it's not so bad as you first thought. Also I know it's hard but relax your body it makes things easier.
Love and hugs Jan xxxx keep us informed how you are progressing xxxxx
