Needs Must...

Took the plunge today and ordered a wheelchair...Himself supervised...it's an Irish firm which only sells on-line. Everything from gadgets to pull your socks up to all-terrain wheelchairs which can be used for mountain climbing...I'm presuming they don't mean Everest...Himself spent a long time looking at those...I pointed out they are intended for athletes and are priced way out of our comfort zone...he said he liked the different colours...I sighed.

It's next day delivery, which it won't be seeing as it's a Bank Holiday, but there's no rush...no delivery charges and no VAT...

The one I chose can be self-propelled...quite where I'd get the necessary breath from I've no idea...or can be pushed. It cost just a fraction under €200.

Folds up to go in the car boot and is light enough for Himself to manage without a struggle...

Quite looking forward to its arrival now.

oh good. I have visions of you flying around that cottage with a stream of patchwork pieces flying behind you, scattering dogs and kittens hither and thither. Do let us know how you get on with it.

vashti, you don't mention it but I'm hoping you ordered the chauffeurs cap for Himself!

Surely you can't be expected to let him push you around unless he's looking the part?

Hope you enjoy the benefits of the chair ;-))

Hi, Vashti, that's great news, I hope you get many pleasurable hours in it and it's not too much of a strain for Himself. Make sure you don't antagonise him, or you might find yourself flying through the air!!

Best wishes,

Christine. XXX

Glad to hear that you chose self propelled as even if you never actually do that, it is the only way you can move yourself nearer a shelf or just along a few inches to reach something.

Nothing worse than being pushed and left on the pavement while your pusher nips into a shop with a step, then find you are blocking the way of every buggy, pram, wheelchair etc that comes along and you can't move even a few inches near the shop window out of their way. Very embarrassing.

Hope you have chosen the right size seat , and leg length and back height.

BTW if Himself wants to treat you to a new colour in a couple of years , most car paint shops can respray 😆 Rib
