Remarkable operation
Yes, we all must be positive as good news happens all the time. Lovely, yet also exciting.
That sounds remarkable. Surgery is always moving forward. Xxxx
I don't want to put a downer on the article, but not everyone can pass the fitness for surgery test though. If there are existing comorbidities and/or a low lung function then it is not always viable. The same goes for any operation that will require a general anesthetic. It is the anesthetist that has the last call on whether it is possible or not, not the surgeon.
Just being realistic, and not wanting to create false hope which could be really cruel. I have had to face up to that situation and it is totally mind blowing to be told that you have a 60% chance of morbidity from the operation and if you survive a 40% chance of being stuck in a wheel chair on o2. Fortunately my lung cancer was at an early stage and radiotherapy was an option and so far I have enjoyed 2 years in full remission.
The article fails to say whether the person concerned already had a lung disease other than cancer, or other existing health problems. Probably more relevant to be posted in the Roy Castle Forum instead.
Remarkable- bodes well for the future
