They say us northern lads
Tend to be too blunt
We don't intend to be like that
We just like to be upfront
My old Dad was a very kind man
But it was often said
He plods around in his hob nailed boots
Where Angels fear to tread
They say us northern lads
Tend to be too blunt
We don't intend to be like that
We just like to be upfront
My old Dad was a very kind man
But it was often said
He plods around in his hob nailed boots
Where Angels fear to tread
Aye up lad, that sayd it rite x lovely photo x

Fantastic photo, love the hats π© & those bouquets look works of art - almost unwieldy!
Don, this is a very beautiful picture...(treasure).
What a stunning wedding photograph of handsome young men and lovely ladies in beautiful dresses! The bride and groom look so happy bless themπ. I hope they were and had a good life ππΈπ
Good one Don . How amazed they would be if they could visit one day and see us walking around with phones and laptops, my parents never had a house phone even or a car.
I doubt they would have approved of much that goes on these days to be honest. They did have a house, a phone and a car in later life, but had to work dammed hard to be able to afford those things.
Lovely photo and rhyme,
Look forward to your posts, they brighten the day, especially this time of year.
What a lovely photo, I love wedding photos, everyone dressed up to the nines and full of hope for the future.
Is that your mum? She has such a sweet face. Love the oversize bouquets as well!
Yep, that's my mum. I've written about her before, in fact, trying to find the link below I'm appalled at the number of rhymes, poems, whatever, I have written. It's a wonder I haven't driven you all away. π€

Great photo and apt words, the world has changed so much in a short period of time, some for the better, some not.
By 'eck Yorkshire lass ere tha knows. I love the lad Geoffrey Boycott he says as ee finds π
Oh Don, what a beautiful photo. Did you mean angles, or Angels? Lovely rhyme anyway.
Oh 'eck, such a short one too. You'd think I'd be able to get that right wouldn't you. Thanks, poem. π
You should read the one I posted, it's ALL spelled wrong. LOL
Fabulous photo. Clever rhyme too.
Love the expression "plods around in his hob nailed boots where angels fear to tread". As a Northern lass I'm surprised this is the first time I've heard it; put a smile on my face x
The line 'where angels fear to tread' was first written by Alexander Pope in his 1711 poem An Essay on Criticism. The hob nailed boot bit is mine which I hoped would make people smile. I only post my own stuff.πx
So that's why I hadn't heard it - I love it!! Thank you once again Don for the smiles and laughter x
I love all the old wedding photos the beautiful flowers and dresses they never had a lot but it went far and I would say
Pain makes you stronger
Tears make you braver
Heartbreak makes you wiser
So thank your past for a better future
Happy new year
What a great photo to have Don. Such treasured memories for you to keep. I remember always looking at my mum and dads wedding photo- I might still have one- x
Wonderful Don what a great photo tooπxx
Dear Don-1931,
I thing that, thy Dad, would be 'Right Proud' of that Lad! Couldn't Think of Better Poet neither.... How's my 'Northern' accent, is Champion, or Right Crap?
Seriously though, this is a Lovely Tribute, to a Much Missed Dad. Good photo too.
