I had my Plethysmography this morning.I sat down, the nurse shut the door, told me to breathe normally, I heard a clunk, the pressure dropped and I felt as though I was being suffocated and had chest pains. She opened the door because I had to get out
Sounds horrible . I’ve never heard of that so I’ll have to look it up it just sounds scary as hell. Hope you are feeling better after that experience. 🙄
Worry not Kasey, the procedure is just a more accurate way of measuring yout total and residual lung capacity,i would imagine from all your other lung function tests that they have a pretty good idea of your condition and they will probably find an alternative method of gathering information.
Sounds very scary. I think I would have screamed my way out if I had enough air. You are very brave. Hope you are recovering from the ordeal. Do something nice for yourself xxx
Not nice at all Hidden . I'm sorry you had such an awful time. Have you done a spirometry test ? (No box necessary) if did what were the results ? And what lung disease do you have? I hope things got sorted at the pulmonary rehab? Take care. xx 😊
Pulmonary Rehab is the best thing ever and the only thing that you can really
do for yourself. You are asked to exercise to a point of MODERATE breathlessness, no more than that and no one will put pressure on you. There will be others worse than you no doubt. Wish I could get it here in Cornwall- I moved from London where we had it every 12 months.
I was the same 2 years ago. Your not a failure. We all react to things in different ways, you do feel strange in the cabin. I did go back but the doctor suggested I take Orimorph a very small dose. Which helped took it about half an hour before I went back to try again. And it did help it calmed me . Might be worth a try. But someone may be able to suggest something else. Hope all goes well.
Not a failure for crying or needing to leave that box. We're all different. I would struggle too. Great suggestion above about oramorph. Hope that can be arranged for you. All the best.
Just looked it up and it doesnt sound as if it was working correctly. Did they not warn you.? i would ask someone to explain it first and what information they gain from it. Myself I always have to know things . I must be a real pain.
It must have been very frightening.
Try to forget it,and don't think about it any more.
