We have some fantastic research going on, time for some fantastic breakthrough. The treatment that halts progression is what I am looking for. The cure yes of course, but halting it in its tracks should be by now or in the VERY near future, the news we hear. Nothing more nothing less. Not a rant here just a hope I have and belief.

Let’s all keep believing and never giving up hope Emily. Great post. Xxxxx
That is what we all need to do. Question update on research, donate to research, sign pertitions to parliament. If we are such a burden on resources, surely makes sense to find the treatment to halt it. So come on researches find that treatment. Xx
Well said Emily. Xxxx
Yes Carole, I agree, Emily is doing a lot of Research now to help us all. She is helping very Positively. Thanks Emily. xxx
No thanks required we are in this together I understand now, took a while, still get overwhelmed but not giving up on hope. Something will happen soon I believe this. Naive ? No I believe.
We should always have belief and hope, you have a good night and take care of yourself 😊 Bernadette xx
Good to hear you being so positive.
As you may know I am a carer for my husband with very severe emphysema.
He has had it for a very long time but chose to ignore it for a few years and carried on smoking. I don’t think smoking was the only reason he had it but was the main one. I think his disease has progressed fairly quickly compared to some others on the site and was severely made worse by contacting a nasty virus which may have been from either flying or from our granddaughter as it was going round her nursery but was not dangerous to children but was very dangerous for people with serious health conditions.
When I read your post I thought knowing what I know now what would I do if it were me first diagnosed with this illness.
I think the main element apart from the obvious giving up smoking is avoiding getting infections as these further damage the lungs and you need to be a bit obsessive about this. Breathing good clean air so not living in a polluted city, staying away from bonfires, wood burners, harsh chemical cleaners. Next a good nutritious diet supported by supplements and sunshine if possible and appropriate exercise. Maintaining a healthy weight is good as people who are underweight have a poorer prognosis. I’d also add staying out of hospital as although it’s the best place when you really need if it’s also a germ factory as are doctors waiting rooms. I’m not disputing the benefits of holidays abroad but flying is very unhealthy too so maybe to be avoided unless absolutely necessary.
I’m sure others will think of something I’ve forgotten and I know things are difficult and not always possible but for those of you at the mild, moderate stage with the benefit of hindsight this is what I would do.
If research offers us something better I will welcome it.
Take care all,
Corin
I too am waiting for that day to come, to halt progression of this awful desease.
