Yale study provides insights into how fibrosis progresses in the human lung.

A Yale-led collaborative study boosts scientific understanding of how the lung disease idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) progresses, providing a roadmap for researchers to discover new treatment targets for the disease.

In the study, researchers examined differentially affected regions in lungs obtained from individuals with IPF and found that what looks like normal lung is already undergoing changes in specific genes. They then tracked how these genes continue to change, increasing or decreasing, as the disease progresses.

This is wild, 2greys! Oxygen drops led to first ct-scan in 10/17. Ct-scan showed "minimal volume loss in base of both lungs.," which was first hint of fibrosis. On examining past lab results, 'hint' coincides with first elevation in thyroid numbers on annual blood work. My numbers tripled between 7/18 and 9/19., so am now in process of finding accurate Synthroid dosage..am presently on 50 mcg.. Prescribed by pc. Will see endocrinologist soon as they can schedule me in... Am scheduled for HRCT early December to see if fibrosis has progressed. Thank you for this link....J

Thank you for your post, it makes it so worthwhile hunting out these reports, if it gives some hope.

This article has a sub-article about how thyroid hormone replacement therapy has been tested in mouse models with good results. I do not know how to 'link.' Could you please link this article, or give me instructions on how to do so. (I am barely able to 'search,' 'post,' and do 'email." Thank you, so much 2greys. J

Here it is, no problem other than a little late, because of the different time zones.
