I have two leaky mitral valves and have had them for 25 years. Apparently until problems develop you can live with them for many years like this without them causing problems. I have also been told that the valves have to be ripe before they decide to operate. I know its major surgery so ask yourself if you think you absolutely need to have them replaced. Good luck and let us know what you decide.
So sorry I re read your post and you are talking about lung valve relacement. I havent heard of this before and thought you were talking about heart valves.
I’ve had 3 inserted August 2 came out with pneumonia lasting 4 weeks then fluid on the lung also suffering for a further 2 weeks so far with a infection I have noticed showering is better and I was on 1 litre oxygen overnight which I don’t seem to need as for walking not much improvement yet however the said it could take longer l believe everyone is different and iam thankful just to have a shower without struggling
I had 5 of these fitted in 2012 I was one of the first to have these flitted in Glenfield ,
The day after the operation I couldn’t believe how much improvement there was in my breathing
Unfortunately they only lasted for months because of the type of Lung disease I suffer along with COPD and other things my lungs expanded in the airways where the valves where fitted and couldn’t work for me so 18 months after I had my 2 Nd lung reduction surgery in 2014 and had to come out of hospital on ambiglatury Oxygen..

After reading a lot of the posts on here i'm a bit apprehensive as to the success of these valves
