Hi all , has anyone had lung valve surgery

Dose it really work, has it improved your life?

Are there any side effects

I am thinking about this option as I'm 55 and hoping this will improve my quality of life

I have two leaky mitral valves and have had them for 25 years. Apparently until problems develop you can live with them for many years like this without them causing problems. I have also been told that the valves have to be ripe before they decide to operate. I know its major surgery so ask yourself if you think you absolutely need to have them replaced. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I had 5 of these fitted in 2012 I was one of the first to have these flitted in Glenfield ,

The day after the operation I couldn’t believe how much improvement there was in my breathing

Unfortunately they only lasted for months because of the type of Lung disease I suffer along with COPD and other things my lungs expanded in the airways where the valves where fitted and couldn’t work for me so 18 months after I had my 2 Nd lung reduction surgery in 2014 and had to come out of hospital on ambiglatury Oxygen..
