Pulmonologist visit. Alpha one

Saw my pulmonologist today. I’m alpha ZZ. Not a candidate for transplant. To day Dr. told me Washington State USA just legalized bullae plugs for regular emphysema patients. He said he does think it will be soon that alpha one patients will be accepted in Washington too. California is already doing the procedure. They go down your throat and plug off giant bullae.

Hi Apeter

I'm intrigued by what these Bullae plugs are.

Are they the same as endobronchial valves?

Take care

Corin

Not certain. Don’t think so. A new procedure that recently was legalized here. Actually it sounds like a real plug placed into large bullae empty areas in hyperinflated lungs.

I sure hope they will be able to offer them to you soon.

Hi Peter. That sounds like disappointing news for you. I hope Washington sees sense soon and you can get your plugs. x

My pulmonologist says he thinks it will only a matter of months until it’s legal For Alpha Ones. They go down through your throat so much less invasive.
