Had emphysema for many years. This year I have had only one flare up but breathing is not great but have cardiac problems. This makes it difficult for the Asthma Nurse.
For the third 3rd X Ray in succession the radiologist has called me back to have another x Ray because again I was told I had long lungs and needed a second X Ray to get all of my lungs. twice I was told "long lungs" and once "long chest" (Which i don't have.
So I have emphysema aka COPD so what the heck has Long Lungs got to do with anything? No doctor nurse ever mentions that.
Lastly only one flare up but. I get short bursts of a strange cough and my breathing completely goes. Soon comes back but in stages, for a while ,y voice is hardly audible.. Anyone else had that? Of this I think was the reason for this x Ray as well as feeling unwell most of the year but with just one flare up.

Ern if you have Emphysema then it is likely that to the radiographer your hyperinflated lungs will be too long to get them all in the one picture.it is normal and nothing to worry about.i nearly always have two pics for the price of one and the usual remark of long lungs is often heard.
Thank you. They ask us to wait a few minutes then tell us to go, but on last few occasions they have to me back in, to get rest on my lungs on the film.. I am going shorter also.. Not sure why..
