Looks great; where is the picture taken? Reminds me of the anchor down the coast where the big container ship sank a few years ago but cannot remember the name of the place. Or the ship. Definitely sank though. I think.

From the top of lepe beach cant remember a container going down x

Is that in Hampshire? No, the place I was thinking is either Dorset or Devon but is Lepe where they built some of the D-Day stuff? Probably totally wrong but I remember something like Lepe down here near Southampton.

Phil yes it's on the solent about 15 miles from Southampton and there's a lot of the old d day bunkers along the beach you can see plus the large memorial for old soldiers still celebrated with poppies on remembrance day...

The only boat or container I remember was along the Worthing coast line that's a long time ago when everything was adrift as the container had burst everyone was on the beach finding salvage and swimming in to get stuff from it ..it was electrical equipment and wood πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Yep, I know whereabouts you are; I think that there’s a memorial to the amphibious tanks that were despatched on their launch boat there. They floated some of the concrete Mulberry harbour bits from there too and I think there’s a bit still there. Floating concrete. Germans didn’t expect that.

I think I have a print of a painting of the ship you mention, signed by the artist of the original painting Liam Hanley. Wish it was the actual painting not the print.

If you google d day at lepe beach it's full of information regarding mulberry harbour and information about what went on . Worth a read 😁

I live in Bournemouth and am interested in military history; there is so much down here obviously. And Normandy is a ferry away and the whole area is seeped in history; I would recommend anyone to go and the roads and driving are very good.

When you see the area and beaches.... I am amazed anyone made it at all. An outstanding and brave generation. They still have a dummy paratrooper caught on the church tower in St. Mere Eglise! Have a great day

Happy Solstice to you too, Blackbird!

Crikey, is this really where we turn back to shorter days? Haven’t had summer yet up here in Cheshire. Another grey rain cloud sky here, weather forecast keeps saying NEXT WEEK, but a few days of sun never comes β˜€οΈβ˜€οΈβ˜€οΈ Thanks for another striking photo. Enjoy your day πŸ’ž

Many thanks Yatzy

It's like sometimes the rain goes on for days .

Hopefully next week we will have a bit of sun but proper sun where it's not jaded by clouds and downpours . I have been dog walking all week in shorts and wellies very professional but at the same time I carry my wet coat as it's so undecided which way its going to swing . The downpours are warm and the sun is very hot nights are muggy but still not true summer weather from the 70s which I remember with love beads and smokey things πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ’žπŸ’žπŸ’ž

Haven’t tried to see if rain is warm....that’s an idea!

In your job, you’re bound to find out, I suppose!

Our dog died five years ago now, a beautiful border collie, so liked a lot of exercise. She was born in a barn to working dogs, so loved the outdoor life. We knew about warm rain then, come to think!!

We’d love another lovely intelligent border collie, but don’t have the energy anymore, especially for a young one.

Keep going, Blackbird, I think it’s when you stop that the energy and stamina goes. I’d rather look out at the wet weather now!! I’m making myself feel lazy....I’ll get out there all weathers....!! πŸ’ž

That's very sad to hear . Borders are a very highly intelligent breed that do take some exercise but the rewards you reap from any furry are fantastic . Hope you have some good memories. I look after an older boy called Major who is 14 he shares his home with 4 cats and her herds them round the house and out of the way when hes fed up with them ..its funny to watch but at the same time proves instincts dont leave us or them ...

Get your wellies on and go find some rain to play in

Maybe a smaller rescue dog would be given a lovley home from you πŸ’žπŸ’žπŸ’ž

We have the beautiful, intelligent, completely nuts collie in my avatar called Bella. Off to agility training this morning; like yours she came from 2 working parents and was born in a barn with a horse next door!

Sable and white, first collie we have had and absolutely fabulous but I pretty much love all dogs anyway.

But you are so right about the energy you need! Luckily, I have a wife younger and keener than I to run about with the dog.

I do the walking....have a good weekend

Have a lovely day with your beautiful dog....I’m afraid they’re not with you forever 😏 Our lovely Flora was with us for 14 and a half years, she could be just a touch fiesty with strangers, her working dog background maybe, but a perfect companion for us.

It took me a long time to agree to have a dog but we looked after my daughters bulldog and decided it was time to get a furry friend; and as lovely as the bulldog is (the soppiest most placid dog I have ever seen) we didn’t want a breed like that. My wife said to me one day β€˜we’re going to look at some puppies. Do you think we should take some money in case....’

I looked at her and thought β€˜looks like we’ve found a dog then’ and there was Bella and siblings. Mum was tri-colour and Dad black and white; she is sable and white.

And also very wary around strangers, doesn’t really like other dogs etc etc all the crazy collie stuff. But with us she’s just fine 😁.

And loves Mum who has COPD and Mum loves her too, which I didn’t really expect but it’s been s great bonus!
