Last minute oxygen concentrator

Hello, after 2 weeks of nothing but stress and worry, wondering whether or not we will lose our holiday waiting for results and appointments, my mum has finally had her fit to fly test (she only got out of hospital 3 weeks ago with Copd and has Oxygen at home now so this is all brand new and confusing to us) All is sounding good to go apart from the fact I can't seem to get her an oxygen concentrator thats not a pulse one! She needs this definitely for over night use- 3 lpm, continuous flow. She is OK during the day and doesn't need this for the flight, the respiratory nurse said pulse is no good for over night. We are meant to be going to Ibiza 2 week on Sunday!! Can anyone give me any help where to turn to sort this out? I wish I'd of been told sooner we could hire in Spain but apparently need a month's notice :(

I have no answers for you as yes you could have organised it but as you say it needed to be done at least a month before you go. I really don't know what to suggest for you unless you contact the health authority direct in Spain maybe google to find out how

Thanks for your reply il have another go on Google, when mum went in hospital about 2 month ago they assured her everything would get sorted for her holiday and nobody has been helpful at all, we haven't had any relevant information or I would of had it all organised 😩

Only further help I can give is that you contact the following, the Overseas Health Team on 0191-2181999 and the Dept of Health on 02072104850 and see if they can help you in any way.Only other option is to email oxygenworldwide.com or buy your own concentrator which will not be cheap. I wish you luck let me know how you get on, Ruth

You could try to contact your Airline to see if you could hire oxygen off of them for your flight

It’s a possibility they could do it

Contact the BLF see what they can advise.

Hi zozomarie83,

As you say you haven’t got enough time to do this through EHIC, you can hire one through pure O2, there is a model that is portable and continuous flow for 3LPM here: healthoxygen.com/product/se..., I don’t know the cost, but they are a reputable company, intermedical are also a company I have used, but I’m not sure if they do holiday rentals.

Good luck sorting it out, I hope you all enjoy your holiday.

Regards,

Ian.
